We are currently celebrating our twenty-second anniversary. Over this time, we have been able to build a unique and distinctive festival, deeply rooted in the local area and the development of the island’s population, which has forged strong ties with the social, cultural, business and artistic fabric of Vallehermoso and La Gomera.

Indeed, in 2005, we at Cauprogss, S.L. embarked on one of the most rewarding professional ventures of our career: the creation of the Festival Atlántico Sonoro. Naturally, that beginning was driven by the enthusiasm to develop a cultural and artistic project in Vallehermoso, a village of great significance in our lives as it is, precisely, the place of our family origins.

However, we could not have imagined at the time that the Festival Atlántico Sonoro would become the flagship of our cultural enterprise and that, twenty-one editions later, we would be able to boast of having kept one of the most stable and solid festivals on the archipelago’s cultural scene going.

This, without a doubt, is the most wonderful and exciting achievement of all these years because, as we know, the people of Vallehermoso look forward to a new edition every year. These bonds have been forged through both personal and professional collaborations, as the Festival does not limit itself to organising its programme in Vallehermoso, but draws on the town’s professional services and resources; consequently, the impact achieved is not only cultural and social, but also decidedly economic.

Once the Festival was established, with each new edition we have expanded the programme to other parts of the Canary Islands, with the aim of showcasing the uniqueness of Atlántico Sonoro beyond La Gomera, but also to create a magnet that draws potential audiences from other areas and markets to the rural and decentralised reality of Vallehermoso.

Over the years, Atlántico Sonoro has established the defining characteristics of the Festival, which now allows us to speak of four fundamental pillars: decentralisation and rurality; identity (art and memory); diversity as cultural uniqueness; and local and territorial development.

The festival is supported by the Government of the Canary Islands, through Promotur Turismo Islas Canarias and the Canary Islands Institute of Cultural Development, the Island Council of La Gomera and Vallehermoso Town Council, and is held in collaboration with Icod de Los Vinos Town Council and the Silbo Gomero Cultural Association.
